The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded Professor Jeff Wang a $3.7 million R01 grant to develop a single-cell analysis platform for diagnostics of infectious diseases.

The grant, entitled, “A “Culture” Shift: Integrated Bacterial Screening and Antibacterial Susceptibility Test on Microfluidic Digital Array for Bloodstream Infections” and led by Professor Wang, is a collaboration with Professor Sam Yang at Stanford University and Professors Charlotte Gaydos, Karen Carroll and Yu-Hsiang Hsieh at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutes to develop a single-cell diagnostic platform which integrates broad-range bacterial detection, species identification (ID) and antibacterial susceptibility testing (AST) in a streamlined test.
