Julie Lundquist, the Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science and Wind Energy in the departments of Mechanical Engineering and Earth and Planetary Sciences, and a core researcher with the Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI), was recently quoted in a Baltimore Fishbowl article about a Maryland offshore wind project that is currently facing legal pushback. More specifically she commented on the case for offshore wind development off Maryland’s coast, emphasizing that it is a proven, increasingly efficient technology well suited to coastal regions. She also highlighted its grid and reliability benefits, potential ecological upsides, and the importance of building a U.S. offshore wind industry despite higher costs and political challenges.
