The Department of Mechanical Engineering held a retirement party last week for Mike Bernard, academic program manager. Bernard spent his entire 23-year Johns Hopkins career in the department.
“To work with such genuinely nice people who are giants, or who will in time be giants, in their research fields was a superb experience that not many people get to have,” he said. “I love the enthusiasm of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the pioneering spirit of our faculty who find real solutions to real human problems that will make our world better for millions. I felt always like I was touring a museum and was constantly wowed by what I have seen from our department over the years…and that’s still the case.”
