Research Interests

Dynamics and control of nonlinear, networked and spatially distributed systems such as the electric power grid, and wind farms.  Modeling of turbulence and transition to turbulence in wall bounded shear flows and wind farms. Grid integration of renewable energy sources.

Dennice F. Gayme is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and is the Carol Croft Linde Faculty Scholar. Her research interests are in modeling, analysis and control for spatially distributed and large-scale networked systems. Current applications of her work work include wall-bounded turbulent flows, wind farms, power grids, and vehicular networks. She earned a BS from McMaster University in 1997 and MS from the University of California at Berkeley in 1998, both in mechanical engineering. She received her PhD in Control and Dynamical Systems from the California Institute of Technology in 2010, where she was a recipient of the P.E.O. Scholar Award and the James Irvine Foundation Graduate Fellowship.
