What You Need to Know

For incoming freshmen, majors can be declared upon acceptance of admission. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Whiting School of Engineering’s Academic Advising office will work with incoming freshmen to declare majors and select the appropriate introductory courses.

Students transferring from other institutions are welcome to declare one of our majors. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Whiting School of Engineering’s Academic Advising office will work with students and the department to determine what previous courses will be accepted for credit. The department will determine which courses will count for the degree.

Academic Program Manager Mike Bernard can explain the majors, as well as help create a degree plan (also known as a 4-year plan). Students will be assigned a faculty advisor.

Students must complete a series of “introduction to engineering” and “introduction to programming” courses. There are options to suit each student’s situation. Visit the “Intro to Engineering / Intro to Computing Options” file for information.
