Three graduate students associated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering are recipients of a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) award. Salman Mirza (Moore Lab), Caleb Pipes (Ni Lab), and Aaliyah Thompson-Mazzeo (Brown Lab) will receive a stipend and paid tuition for three years of the five-year fellowship period.
The purpose of the NSF GRFP is to help ensure the quality, vitality, and strength of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. Since 1952, the program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, including STEM education.
