Defensive lineman Luke Schuermann was selected for the AP, AFCA, and D3Football.com All-America teams for NCAA Division III

Johns Hopkins senior defensive lineman Luke Schuermann added yet another honor to his resume as he was named a 2023 Associated Press (AP) First Team All-American for NCAA Division III. This is his third All-America honor this season after also being named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), and D3football.com All-America teams.

Schuermann’s selection to the AP All-America Team this season marks the seventh time an organization has named him to its All-America squad; he earned All-America honors from D3football.com and the Associated Press in 2021 and 2022.

Schuermann was also one of three Johns Hopkins football players named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-America Football Team. Schuermann is making his third consecutive appearance on the team. Schuermann was one of three mechanical engineering students earlier named to the CSC Academic All-District team, along with Matthew Konkol (junior, defensive lineman) and Cole Peters (junior, linebacker).

In 2023 Schuermann was a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, considered college football’s “academic Heisman.”
