Mechanical Engineering senior Emily Palmer won second prize for her paper, titled “Aeromechanics of Long Jumps in Spider Crickets: Insights from Experiments and Modeling,” at the American Society of Mechanical Engineer’s (ASME) 2017 Young Engineers Paper competition.
Palmer presented her paper at ASME’s IMECE conference, the world’s largest interdisciplinary mechanical engineering conference, in Tampa, Florida in early November. Palmer has been studying movement and aerodynamics in spider crickets in Professor Rajat Mittal’s lab, research that could prove useful in designing small robots.
Congratulations on this recognition, Emily!
