Congratulations to Prof. Rajat Mittal, Prof. Joseph Katz, and Prof. Noah Cowan, who, as part of a cross-divisional team, recently received a Johns Hopkins Discovery Award.

Profs. Mittal, Katz and Cowan join Prof. Cynthia Moss and Prof. Susanne Sterbing-D’Angelo, both of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, on a project titled The Bat-wing: A Model System for Sensing and Feedback Control in Animals.

With these awards, teams will pursue innovative partnerships on collaborative research projects that bridge dozens of fields. In total, the 24 teams who received awards this year are composed of 84 faculty members and research scientists who span across 10 Johns Hopkins schools and divisions.

“We are once again inspired by the creative and collaborative proposals received from throughout our university,” says Ronald J. Daniels, president of Johns Hopkins University. “These awards provide our faculty the resources to develop interdisciplinary research programs and knit together expertise across Johns Hopkins to pursue novel research questions in a daunting funding environment.”
