Congratulations to Andrea Prosperetti, the Charles A. Miller Jr. Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering, who recently traveled to Torino, Italy, to receive the Modesto Panetti e Carlo Ferrari Prize for Applied Mechanics from the Academy of Sciences there. An international award, it is given every two years to a scientist who distinguished himself over the past decade in the field of Applied Mechanics.

The academy noted that Professor Prosperetti is, “an international reference point, not only for the theoretical analysis of the formation of bubbles and their dynamic evolution but also for the formulation of models that have allowed the accurate prediction of macroscopic effects in a number of phenomena related to multiphase flows.”
