chirikjianGregory Chirikjian, a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Whiting School of Engineering, was honored with two awards at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers 38th Mechanisms and Robotics Conference, held August 17 through 20 in Buffalo, N.Y.

Chirikjian won both the “Mechanism and Robotics Award” for his cumulative contributions to robot design, biomolecular mechanics and medical engineering and the A. T. Yang Memorial Award in Theoretical Kinematics in recognition of his prize-winning paper “Kinematics Meets Crystallography: The Concept of a Motion Space.”
