Johns Hopkins Mechanical Engineering surveys all students graduating from the department to obtain information on their post-graduation plans. Below are the results of our First Destination Surveys, which provide a snapshot of how our undergraduates fare in the months following graduation.

OCCUPATIONS and CAREER PATHS

BS Mechanical Engineering

Of the BS Mechanical Engineering alumni of the Classes of 2015 through 2019 reporting:

Engineering Practice – 177

  • 114 have gone into Mechanical Engineering practice
  • 33 are involved in consulting and analysis – mainly in mechanical engineering and some in other engineering fields
  • 30 are in other engineering careers, teaching, entrepreneurship, research, finance, and military service.

Graduate Education – 46

  • 21 have continued education for a Mechanical Engineering graduate degree
  • 9 have continued education for a Robotics graduate degree
  • 16 have continued education for a graduate degree – engineering or elsewhere.

BS Engineering Mechanics

Of the BS Engineering Mechanics alumni of the Classes of 2010 through 2019 reporting:

Engineering Practice – 12

  • 8 have gone into Mechanical Engineering practice
  • 4 are in other engineering careers: data science, research, and finance.

Graduate Education – 5

  • 5 have continued education for a graduate degree in various engineering and robotics fields.
