Sung Hoon Kang, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, was selected as a fellow for the 2020 Air Force Research Lab Summer Faculty Fellowship Program at AFRL-Materials and Manufacturing.

The U.S. Air Force Research Lab Summer Faculty Fellowship Program offers hands-on exposure to Air Force research challenges through 8- to 12-week research residencies at participating Air Force research facilities for full-time science, mathematics, and engineering faculty at U.S. colleges and universities. As a participant of the program, Kang will spend eight weeks at the Air Force Research Lab in Dayton, Ohio this summer.

Kang’s research is aimed at developing bio-inspired solutions to address challenges in synthetic materials and mechanical systems with applications in protection, healthcare, and energy.
