The American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) has named Thao (Vicky) Nguyen, a professor of mechanical engineering and the Marlin U. Zimmerman Faculty Scholar at Johns Hopkins University, as the next co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Biomechanical Engineering. Nguyen’s five-year term will begin January 2022.

“Telerobotics for Remote Control of Medical Equipment in Contagious Environments” won the Best Innovation Award at the inaugural Medical Robotics for Contagious Diseases Challenge 2020.

In their proposal, titled "Electrostatically-Charged Contact Mechanics in Lunar and Martian Dust Environments," the pair aims to create novel proof-of-concept experiments with the specific goal of relating particle roughness and charging to cohesion and friction during mechanical contact of rough particles with rough or smooth surfaces.
