Students navigate the ups and downs of engineering design
First-year Johns Hopkins mechanical engineering students vie to see whose glider will soar to victory in annual design competition.
MoreWe welcome all students who wish to declare their major as Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics!
Academic Program Manager Mike Bernard can explain the majors, as well as help create a degree plan (also known as a 4-year plan). Students will be assigned a faculty advisor.
Students must complete a series of “introduction to engineering” and “introduction to programming” courses. There are options to suit each student’s situation. Visit the “Intro to Engineering / Intro to Computing Options” file for information.
Please contact Mike at me-academic@jhu.edu with your questions.

Academic Program Manager Mike Bernard can explain the majors and help determine what courses will count toward our degrees to create a degree plan (also known as a 4-year plan). Please contact Mike at me-academic@jhu.edu to arrange a meeting. At that meeting, students can declare their majors and be assigned a faculty advisor, or can take time to decide whether or not to declare the major.
