Congratulations to Ahmed Hussein, a 4th year PhD student in Prof. El-Awady‘s research group for winning a best poster award for his poster on “Dislocation Pattern Evolution and Strain Hardening in FCC Metals through Discrete Dislocation Dynamics Simulations” at the 7th International Conference on Multiscale Materials Modeling (MMM 2014) held October 6-10th in Berkeley, CA.

The overall theme for MMM 2014 was “The Microstructural Frontier.” In reference to the pioneering spirit of the American West, a goal of the conference was to focus the attention of the MMM community on the inadequacy of exiting capabilities for quantitative modeling of materials microstructural evolution and on the wide open and still unexplored horizons for developing the needed capabilities in the future.
