prosperetti2Professor Andrea Prosperetti has been awarded the Modesto Panetti e Carlo Ferrari Prize for Applied Mechanics from the Academy of Sciences in Torino, Italy; the academy noted that Professor Prosperetti is “an international reference point, not only for the theoretical analysis of the formation of bubbles and their dynamic evolution but also for the formulation of models that have allowed the accurate prediction of macroscopic effects in a number of phenomena related to multiphase flows”. The Modesto Panetti e Carlo Ferrari Prize for Applied Mechanics is an international award that is given every two years to a scientist who distinguished himself over the past decade in the field of Applied Mechanics. It is supported by successive endowments from the late Professors Modesto Panetti and Carlo Ferrari, 20th century leaders in Italian mechanics and aeronautics.
